To open Monterey Car Week, Mercedes-Benz introduced an exclusive limited-edition Maybach S-Class. All 25 units of the Maybach S680 Emerald Isle feature a two-tone green and white color scheme. The car also has different finishes on the inside. Although Ireland and California’s west coast are over 5,000 miles apart, Mercedes’ latest Maybach S-Class bridges the distance between them. The Mercedes-Maybach S680 Emerald Isle was named after a North Atlantic island known for its lush green fields, whisky, and leprechauns. However, the Central Coast of California was the inspiration for the name. The car showcases two “Manufaktur” finishes: Moonlight White Metallic and Mid Ireland Green Metallic. The four seats inside are made of light brown nappa leather, and the ceiling is padded with black leather. The extra-thick carpet floor mats have leather edges, and the piano-black trim has chrome accent stripes. The Central Coast is associated with the smell. Reports say that the S680’s unique in-flight ionizer smells like sea salt, cedar, and cypress. The perfume bottle features a picture of Monterey’s lone cypress to help you understand its significance. The Edition Emerald Isle has a 6.0-liter V-12 engine that makes 621 horsepower, while the S580 has a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 that makes 496 horsepower. As standard, it comes with air springs and active sound reduction. When we last tried an S680, we only heard 64 decibels at 70 mph. The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S680 Edition Emerald Isle blends elements of the Old World with the New. It will go on sale this fall. The basic S680 costs less than $250,000, but people who want to buy one might want to look for that golden pot of gold before going to the store.
